Moderating Temperatures for the Eastern Two-Thirds of the Country; Approaching Storm for the West

Unseasonably warm temperatures for the Plains and Midwest will spread eastward through Sunday as a weak clipper system will bring some rain and snow showers from the Great Lakes to the Northeast. Valley inversions and unhealthy air quality across northern Utah will last through much of Sunday. Inversions will diminish Sunday afternoon for most valleys, while inversion conditions will last until Monday for the Cache Valley. Snow is likely throughout Utah's mountains starting as early as Sunday morning. Snow will become heaviest Sunday afternoon through Sunday night. Snow will increase in intensity again Monday morning into Monday evening across the northern and central mountains. Snow accumulations in excess of 1 ft. are expected in the northern mountains, with accumulations generally decreasing southward.
Snow will begin early Sunday afternoon in the Wasatch Back, becoming heaviest Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening. Snow will transition to scattered snow showers Sunday night, then increase in intensity again Monday morning into Monday evening. Total snow accumulations will range from 4-8” with locally up to 10” in the Ogden Valley and at Park City.
