NWS Birmingham, AL - Aviation Weather


The National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham has Terminal Aerodrome Forecasts (TAF or aviation weather forecast) responsibility for seven primary locations in Central Alabama. TAFs are a coded forecast valid from a 24-30 hour time period issued 4 times per day at 6 hour intervals. The forecast includes forecasted wind speed, wind direction, low level (non-convective) wind shear, visibility, ceiling, type of precipitation (i.e. snow, rain, etc.) and/or weather phenomenon.  4 NWS offices issue TAFs for Alabama. They are listed below.
