Severe Thunderstorms and Heavy Rainfall Threats Across the Northern Gulf Coast States

A wave of low pressure coinciding with a frontal boundary will focus more rainfall across the Gulf Coast states. Rainfall could be excessive with flash flooding, especially for areas that received heavy rainfall the past couple of week. A big warm up is expected over the next few days with summer like temperatures over the weekend. If you plan to seek relief by recreating in area lakes, creeks, or rivers, remember that the water is COLD. Our lakes and streams are fed by snowmelt, and the water remains significantly colder than the surrounding air. Be sure to wear a life jacket because water at these temperatures can cause paralysis and lead to drowning.
