Heavy Precipitation Continues for the Northwest; Warmer Temperatures for the Center of the Nation

Atmospheric river of heavy precipitation, strong winds and high surf continues for the Northwest portion of the country. Meanwhile, warming temperatures are expected for the center of the nation where several record highs are in the forecast.   • Flood Watches and Warnings -Issued only when rivers and streams are observed or forecast above flood stage.
  • River Statements -Issued to describe river conditions during high water events which are not expected to exceed flood stage.
  • Hydrologic Outlook - Issued when there is potential for notable hydrologic events. Most often used to describe the possibility of flooding, with occurrence typically 24 hours or more into the future, but as little as 12 hours in some cases when near-term certainty is low.
