Severe Weather Continues for the Center of the Nation; Heat Concerns for Southern Texas

A developing storm across the Plains will bring rounds of severe weather for center of the nation the next couple of days. In addition, increasing temperatures and winds with low humidity values will raise wildfire concerns for portions of the Southwest. Center Weather Service Unit (CWSU) Miami

Mission: To constantly strive to provide the most accurate and dependable weather information possible to our FAA customers, both in-house and off-site, contributing to the safest and most efficient use of our nation's National Airspace System.

Operations:The Miami Center Weather Service Unit (ZMA CWSU) is located at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) ARTCC in Miami, Florida. The CWSU is staffed 16 hours/day by four National Weather Service (NWS) meteorologists and 24 hours/day by Traffic Management Unit personnel. The meteorologists’ hours of operation are from 5:15 AM to 9:00 PM daily.
