...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in
Nevada...

  Owyhee River near Mountain City affecting Elko County.

.Warm temperatures will melt high mountain snowpack and increase
river flows. In addition, occasional rain showers and accelerating
snow melt with rain on snow through Friday could contribute to
increased river volume.

For the Owyhee River...including Mountain City...Minor flooding is
forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

...FLOOD WARNING FOR SNOWMELT NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL SATURDAY, MAY 04...

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Owyhee River near Mountain City.

* WHEN...Until Saturday, May 04.

* IMPACTS...At 9.0 feet, Moderate flooding occurs along the river
  channel. River embankment erosion occurs. Rodeo grounds are
  flooded. Low-lying hay fields and pasture flooding occurs.
  Businesses located along the river in Mountain City experience
  water seepage. Water has to be pumped from the Visitor Center.
  River level is nearing the level of the Boney Lane Bridge spanning
  the Owyhee River, and Nevada State Highway 225 between Mountain
  City and Owyhee. Access to Pleasant Valley is impacted.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 1:10 PM PDT Wednesday the stage was 8.1 feet.
  - Bankfull stage is 7.0 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
    ending at 1:10 PM PDT Wednesday was 8.4 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is forecast to continue to gradually
    rise in the coming days but remain within minor flood stage.
  - Flood stage is 8.0 feet. Moderate floos stage is 9.0 feet.
  - Flood History...No available flood history.

  - At 11:15 AM MDT Wednesday the stage was 4.1 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
    ending at 11:15 AM MDT Wednesday was 4.3 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 4.2
    feet Friday evening. It will then rise to 4.2 feet Friday,
    May 03. Additional rises are possible thereafter.
  - Flood stage is 4.0 feet.
  - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
    4.0 feet on 02/11/2007.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is
  forecast by Thursday.

* WHERE...Portneuf River at Pocatello.

* WHEN...Until further notice.

* IMPACTS...At 8.5 feet, Sections of Sacajawea Park will be under
  water and the trail is usually closed at this level. Marsh Creek
  near Inkom may also be over its banks.
  At 9.2 feet, Flooding of low lying agricultural land and pasture
  will occur in the Inkom and Blackrock area. Lowland flooding is
  likely along sections of the river between Portneuf Gap and the
  Cheyenne Avenue Bridge in Pocatello.
  At 9.4 feet, Water will encroach around sitting benches near the
  river at the Pacific Recycling Trailhead.
  At 10.0 feet, Significant flooding of agricultural land will occur
  from the Inkom and Blackrock area. Lowland flooding will occur
  along sections of the river in Pocatello from Portneuf Gap to the
  Cheyenne Avenue Bridge and downstream of the concrete channel
  beginning at Sacajawea Park.


* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 10:45 AM MDT Wednesday the stage was 9.9 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
    ending at 10:45 AM MDT Wednesday was 9.9 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 10.5
    feet by Sunday.
  - Flood stage is 8.5 feet.
  - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
    10.5 feet on 05/03/2006.
