A large northwest to west swell is bringing high surf to area beaches and it will continue through Tuesday. The Central Coast will see near-Warning level surf, with waves 15-15 feet expected. In this area, some coastal damage will be possible due to the large, powerful surf. Surf of 6-12 feet is expected for the Ventura and L.A. County beaches, with surf 4-7 feet along the Santa Barbara South Coast. Impacts include frequent, strong rip currents and large, powerful breaking waves on west to northwest facing beaches. Dangerous sneaker waves will also be possible, which means that suddenly much larger waves will wash over jetties or previously dry beaches. Swimmers and inexperienced surfers should stay out of the water. Never turn your back to the ocean!
