Severe Thunderstorms and Excessive Rainfall Threats Saturday in the Central U.S.

Multiple clusters of strong to severe thunderstorms may develop across parts of the southern Plains, ArkLaTex, and lower Mississippi Valley Saturday. Very large hail, greater than two-inches in diameter, is possible over central and northern Texas. A few strong thunderstorms are possible in the Sierra Nevada and adjacent foothills from 12 PM PDT this afternoon until 8 PM PDT this evening. Small hail and wind gusts near 45 miles per hour are a couple of hazards associated with strong thunderstorms. In addition to dangerous cloud to ground lightning strikes, any thunderstorm can produce intense rainfall rates, leading to localized flooding.
High temperatures throughout Central California this afternoon will be in the mid to high 80s. Temperatures will begin to cool on Saturday as another low pressure system looks to move into the area.
